Pickleball at The Derrick Club

Pickleball is growing in popularity because it’s a fun game for competitive players and recreational players alike. Young or old, new or experienced, it’s easy to enjoy this relatively new paddle sport.
The multi-purpose gym at The Derrick Club is where you’ll find members playing Pickleball five days each week for open play and drop-in sessions. There is also a Tuesday night adult league.
Joining Derrick Pickleball leagues is easy; just drop in! If you’re new to the game, you’ll get about 20 minutes of instruction on the rules and playing techniques before you’re ready to join your fellow members in league play. Equipment can be provided by the club if you don’t have your own.

Pickleball Coach Al Smigelski

Al is well-known around the Derrick from coaching badminton at the club for 10 years. He and his wife Darlene have carried their passion for badminton and teaching at the club over to the sport of pickleball.

Pickleball Clinics or Lessons

Al is always willing to put together a clinic to introduce you to the game of pickleball or work with you to enhance your game. If you are interested in more formal basic training a one hour lesson is available at $15.00 per person (minimum of 3 in a group).

Appointments can be made by directly contacting Coach Al at 780.435.3370 or by leaving your name and phone number at the front desk.
